Watch out – HMRC may soon snatch back your Winter Fuel Payment. Check here if you will get hit.

Perfect timing – just as the Iran War has pushed up the price of heating oil to a new record high, the friendly HMRC is planning to snatch back some of its winter time largesse.

I kid you not - if your total income is over £35,000, the HMRC is gearing up to snatch the money back, which could be between £100 and £300.

Here you can check if your income is over the threshold and how HMRC will take it back.

Scams

You may get calls, emails or messages that are pretending to be from a government service. If you get a message asking for your personal details (for example, bank details or passwords) this could be a scam. Report anything you think is suspicious.

Threatened housing slump could cut Rachel Reeves’ stamp duty take by £3 billion. The Daily Telegraph is reporting that a threatened housing slump threatens a re-set of the housing market with the Treasury’s stamp duty income likely to fall short by more than £3 billion as sales decline and prices fall.
