More worry for Landlords: a huge demo demanding Rent Controls is planned for London on Saturday  April 18th.

Yet another major worry for landlords is gaining traction. A huge Demo calling for Rent Controls is planned for London on Saturday April 18th.

The demo is being organised by over 50 organisations including tenant groups, Unions and political activists such as the Fire Brigades Union, the Green Party, London Renters Union, Generation Rent and many more.

The Demo is calling for immediate Rent controls and more effort to provide accessible council homes.

The demo coincides with a new peak in private housing rentals which are now on average £1,367 per month according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting that a threatened housing slump threatens a re-set of the housing market with the Treasury’s stamp duty income likely to fall short by more than £3 billion as sales decline and prices fall.
